We have the occasional workshop or special event in-house; following a a few examples:
The town of Wendell held a promotional "Arts in the Alley" weekend in May 2002. Some of our weekly bluegrass jammers made it out to an open picking session in scenic downtown Wendell; what could be better than free bluegrass in the streets?
A ZEPP Country Music-sponsored house concert by the Toronto-based musicians, Arnie Naiman and Chris Coole was held at Zepp's house on 22 May 2001. Arnie and Chris played and sang traditional and original banjo, fiddle, and guitar tunes and songs. They were even kind enough to let me join them for a number . Their discs, 5-Strings Attached with no Backing, and 5 Strings Attached Vol. 2 remain among my all-time favorite and most-recommended clawhammer discs--and yes, we keep them in stock!
A Bluegrass Band Workshop was held in the store on 16 Oct 1999. Our guests were IIIrd Tyme Out , IBMA Vocal Group of the year seven consecutive times. Many tunes were played, many questions answered, and a good time was had by all! I accepted an invitation to sit in on a number, so those who weren't here missed their bluegrass with clawhammer debut (I'm the one on the left).
